I believe in the freedom of music!
Been going to Rush’s Jones Beach shows for the past few years now, and each time it’s an absolute blast. We usually start the day chilling out on the beach, but this year we took a little excursion to Coney Island to ride the Cyclone and eat some Nathan’s hot dogs before the bands blew our minds.
Made it to the theater at about 6 or so, which was just enough time to throw back a few brewskies before the show. Buuuut… even though we know the band is uber-punctual (starting at 8 p.m. on the dot every time!) we still missed the first song, as we do just about every year! This year, the opener was Limelight—you know, “Living in the limelight, The universal dream, For those who wish to seem…” Bummer, but whatcha gonna do?
Set list contained many new tunes that I wasn’t well versed in, which absolutely makes me kick myself over and over for not picking up the Snakes & Arrows album even after all this time. Such a stupid move. I swear I’m gonna pick myself up a copy asap…
Even without knowing every tune, one can’t help but be blown away by the musicianship on stage. And I swear the drum solo alone is worth the price of admission. (Well, almost…)
Oh yeah, did you see this awesome Rolling Stone article about the band? For all you nerds out there, it’s a great read!

Rush to their next concert! Neil Peart is god on the drums!
