Hear and be heard

Fifth Beatle Pete Best Comes to Riverspace this Saturday

September
12

You’ve got to respect this guy.  Pete Best missed his chance for eternal stardom when he was replaced by Ringo in the early 60s, but he’s still plugging away and making music, even after the other Beatles have passed away or committed themselves to selling grande skim lattes, a la Sir Paul.  Without commenting on Best’s solo work (haven’t heard it yet myself), he does seem a little hung up on the glory days in Liverpool.  He still bills himself as “The Man Who Put the Beat in the Beatles,” which is a bit much, but, hey, if I had been in the Beatles, I’d probably tell anyone who would listen.

Anyhow, his gig at Riverspace should be satisfying for all you fans of the Fab Four, err, Five.  If you buy premium tix ($100), you can attend a pre-concert buffet with Pete and his band at Reality Bites Café, and oogle over footage and images from Best’s own Beatles archive. (Did he have Beatles posters hanging in his bedroom like the rest of us?  Did he buy two copies of Sgt. Pepper?…or was he with the crowds that were burning Beatles’ albums?)  As of today at 11:30 a.m., tickets were still available. Details from Riverspace are below:
