NEXT, the new music radio program hosted by Chris Bro on 107.1 The Peak, is sponsoring a concert series through 2009 that will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters. All the shows will be at Rack ‘n’ Roll Sports Bar and Billiards in Stamford (268 Atlantic St.; Stamford, CT; 203-327-991; racknrollbilliards.com).
First up is Marah on January 10. I’ve been a fan of the old-school rockers since their Philly days (represent). I haven’t followed them much since they moved up to Brooklyn in 2005, but hearing some of the songs off their last album, they seem to be turning out the same psychedelic, Springsteen-influenced songs. What I like most about Marah, is that their rock and roll style can appeal to people of all different ages, across platforms.
Other shows in the NEXT concert series:
The Rosewood Thieves- Friday, February 6
Kaiser Cartel- Friday, March 6
Matt O’Ree Band- Friday, April 3
Nikki Shannon- Friday, May 1
Here’s a video from the Big Brothers and Big Sisters themselves:

just checked their myspace. i thought a song entitled “angels of destruction” would be a little more hard core. it’s like false advertising!
Without a doubt, Marah has gone a bit soft. Beyond that, though, a song that heralds destruction should at least stomp on a tissue box or two.
