The Presidential Inaugural Committee has released the list of entertainers who will be featured during next week’s inaugural events for President-Elect Barack Obama. It’s a star-studded lineup, to be sure. For classic rock junkies, one of the highlights promises to be a scheduled performance by the reformed Grateful Dead, which will also be going back on the road in a coming tour, according to Rolling Stone mag. RS says the band will feature founding members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, along with Micky Hart, drummer Bill Kreutzmann and keyboard player Jeff Chimenti. Also in the lineup is Warren Haynes, who somehow seems to have enough time despite splitting time with the Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule and his own solo work.
Rolling Stone also notes that the Dead’s planned appearance during the inaugural celebration that kicks off next week is not exactly out of left field: The band played a Deadheads for Obama show in 2007 and a Change Rocks show for Obama at the end of last year.
