Hats off to our sister paper, The Poughkeepsie Journal, for bringing Woodstock back into the fold.
PoJo cut a deal with Sony Music Entertainment to release 10 cuts from the legendary 1969 music festival on the eve of its 40th anniversary — part of a soon-to-be-released “Woodstock Experience” collection.
This is good stuff and good music — and not just for you music history buffs.
The previously unreleased cuts include excerpts from Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Janis Joplin (pictured above), Johnny Winter and Sly & the Family Stone. Among the tunes are “I Want To Take You Higher” by Sly Stone, “Evil Ways” by Santana and “Good Morning Little School Girl” by Winter.
Jefferson Airplane’s cuts include “Wooden Ships” and “We Can Be Together.”
Check them out on the Po Jo website, and look for the release of the whole collection on June 30.
