This was my first time hearing Coffee Bean Brown — as the acoustic version is billed — and I thought it fit the band’s lyrical style quite well.
The surprise was bittersweet, though, since I really love the band that was supposed to open — The Brew. Their songs are catchy, danceable and yet ripping all in one. They come with the highest of recommendations.
After a great acoustic set, Josh Clark (guitar), Trevor Garrod (keys), Reed Mathis (bass) and Scott Rager (drums) kicked it back up to high gear, plugging in and cranking up the volume for a full-out Tea Leaf Green performance.
It looked like Clark was having a blast on stage, working up a sweat as he took control of the stage with some beautifully creative guitar solos. I give him credit for the most inspired playing of the night, though these guys all jive so perfectly together on stage. I’d say Mathis and Garrod are on genius level, actually.
(Plus, they’re all so adorable I don’t mind just staring sometimes!)
