Band of Horses will play a free show at Grand Central Terminal Friday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. The band tweets that the line starts at the 42nd Street entrance, and it’s first come, first served. The band’s Sunday show, at Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, is sold out. (That venue has a great summer lineup. Check it out here: Williamsburg Waterfront)
Band of Horses’ music is melancholic, rich and beautiful all at the same time. I caught Band of Horses when they opened May 21 for Pearl Jam at Madison Square Garden. The venue was a bit big for their low-key style, but still a stellar performance. Highlights included hearing the haunting song “The Funeral” live and Band of Horses’ Ben Bridell joining Eddie Vedder later in the show to sing “Hunger Strike.”
The free Friday show is part of the AOL Pop Up Series. The band is touring in support of its third album, Infinite Arms.
