Talk about your all-purpose market.
The Irvington Farmer’s Market is hosting a summer music series that’ll bring live performances to the Hudson River village every Wednesday. It’s on tonight at 5 p.m., with talented singer/songwriter Milton performing at the Main Street School parking lot.
The market itself is open from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, with the music normally scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m.
But don’t think the music ends with Milton’s gig. Here’s a schedule of the upcoming performers due to be featured at the farmer’s market. It’s hard to imagine a better shopping trip than this, so check it out.
JULY 7 – JAMES WILSON:
A native of Texas, Irvington-based Indie/folk singer songwriter James Wilson performs regularly at clubs and restaurants in Manhattan and Westchester. James brings familiar folk-rock favorites along with beautiful, poignant original compositions to our farmers market “stage” the first Wednesday of each month. His wide range of influences include Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan and Nirvana.
JULY 14 – MITCH TREGER:
Gracing the Irvington Farmers Market for a very special performance, Mitch Treger is a songsmith from the greater Washington DC area. Mitch was the focal point of the veteran jazz-rock 90’s band, THE EMPTY’s (also featuring Jeff Reich on bass, who will join Mitch at the farmers market along with local musician, Marc Jacoby). Mitch is a gifted writer of humor, honesty and melodic invention.
JULY 21 – MARC JACOBY:
Irvington-based singer/songwriter Marc Jacoby has experienced and contributed to nearly every aspect of the music industry over the past three decades. Marc was the lead guitarist and contributing songwriter for Pilgrim Souls (Columbia Recording Artist), and has worked with a number of highly acclaimed indie bands (including Rain Deputies and Tumbleweed Mile). In Autumn of 2006, Marc co-founded Rockmitzvah (www.rockmitzvah.com), a band which mentors young teen musicians at their own celebrations and performances.
JULY 28 – JESSIE LAMBIASE:
Known for her distinctly pure and mesmerizing voice, 19-year-old Irvington singer/songwriter Jessie Lambiase has been performing since she was 8-years-old. A longtime Rivertowns favorite at local events and coffee houses (as well as a frequent farmers market performer) Jessie performs regularly at the Comfort Lounge in Hastings. Her EP, “Still Waters” was released in 2007.
