There’s a lot to like about Louisiana – the food, the culture, New Orleans. It’s all there for Mardi Gras.
But what would it all be without the music? There are only a handful of cities in the country that can lay claim to being a music capital – Austin, Memphis, Chicago and Motown among them. Put New Orleans near the top.
So, seeing as how we’ve hit Mardi Gras again, we here at The Listening Room thought we’d serenade our readers with a little bit of Zydeco. Namely, Terrance Simien, our favorite master of the genre.
There are a handful of high-profile zydeco performers who’ve been out there for years, from Buckwheat Zydeco to Rockin’ Doopsie to C.J. Chernier, whose father essentially invented the music as we know it today.
But for pure energy we’re going with Simien.
