Diana Costello

Diana CostelloWhen Diana Costello was little, she got in trouble for listening to Led Zeppelin during religious instruction and hasn't stopped jamming since. She now spends way too much money on concerts and wonders how she ever survived without an iPod.

Chris Berardo and The DesBerardos

April

These guys don’t really take too much very seriously — until they start playing music.

As soon as they start strumming that guitar, banging that conga, and shaking that tambourine, they go from ripping on one another to creating some good old heartfelt Americana music.

Eddie Vedder gearing up for solo tour

April
9

Eddie Vedder (do I really need to mention he’s the frontman for Pearl Jam?) will embark on an 11-day solo tour of the U.S. — though unfortunately the closest he’s going to get to the Lower Hudson Valley is Albany…

The tour begins June 8 and ends July 2. New Zealand [...]

In the mood for a good cover band?

April
9

Well we’ve got ya… covered.

The band Blue Mozart is playing two gigs this weekend, at Ruben’s Mexian Cafe in Peekskill on Friday and Garfield’s Bar in Thornwood on Saturday.

These guys will bring you some good, bluesy rock ‘n roll — from Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones to ZZ Top and Led Zeppelin.

I don’t know [...]

Hip-Hop’s Alive and Well

April
1

“I just love the art of it, how creative it is,” 20-year-old New Rochelle native Papa Asante says of the rhythmic rap style he’s been working at since he was a kid. “The past couple of years, though, people have been thinking Hip-Hop is dead.”

Billy Corgan looking for new Smashing Pumpkins drummer, taking resumes

March
31

I love the Smashing Pumpkins. Without a doubt, this was the band of my youth and the music and lyrics still resonate with me to this day. Probably always will.

My thoughts on Billy Corgan looking for a drummer to replace Jimmy Chamberlin, hence, are a bit conflicted. I would love to see Billy continue to [...]

Bisco Inferno a hot ticket, venue upgrade

March
26

Two-day passes to the Disco Biscuits’ “Bisco Inferno” Colorado run sold out in only four minutes last week. As a result, the band has announced that their previously scheduled May 29 performance has been moved to a larger venue: Denver’s Ogden Theatre.

All passes already purchased will be honored at the new venue, of course. But [...]

And you thought you were going to see Phish at Red Rocks…

March
19

Oops! Ticketmaster last night accidentally started selling its share of four-day passes to the Phish Red Rocks performance, which weren’t supposed to go on sale until March 26.

Of course news of this seeming miracle spread like wildfire across the Internet and via text messages, and fans jumped on the chance to see one of the [...]

The big news out of Rothbury, at least in my book…

March
16

… is the reunion of the String Cheese Incident!! Part bluegrass, part rock, part jazz, part trance, entirely a great time, every time. (God that’s cheesy! But I’m ready to eat it up!)

This is the only SCI appearance scheduled for 2009. The band parted ways in 2007, and while all of the band members were [...]

Amy Winehouse cancels Coachella appearance

March
9

Just learned this from a Coachella Twitter update that simply says:
yes it’s true. Amy Winehouse canceled. We’re really bummed.
This comes on the heel of news that the London rock chic has been hit with assault charges for allegedly striking a fan who wanted to take a photo, according to an earlier Listening Room [...]

Excitement builds for Phish reunion

March
6

There’s so much to say about tonight’s momentous occasion, perhaps too much. Streams of fans from all over the country have been trekking to Virginia for the weekend of shows (I got to see one of my best friends who was in town from San Francisco for the big event), and the excitement is basically [...]

TJay connects in the Listening Room studio

February

As a college student at Binghamton University, our latest Listening Room performer was not yet a guitar hero, but rather a baseball star. Brought on the team with a scholarship to play ball for four years, he was even in talks with recruiters to play Major League Baseball.

But while playing music to his college mates [...]

Mercury Landing has gone through several incarnations since forming in 2005, but each step along the way only seems to bring bigger and better things for the band.

Up next? A national tour taking the guys from their hometown of New York City to venues in cities such as Chicago, Cincinnati and Philly. Be sure to [...]

Bittersweet news, this is. Trent Reznor yesterday posted a statement saying NIN has reached out to Jane’s Addiction to co-headline a world tour, though this run could be the last for NIN.

Here’s what Reznor had to say:
Towards the beginning of my career in Nine Inch Nails, our biggest break came in the form of an [...]
